henry dorsett case, first concept art from natali’s ‘neuromancer’ true cyberpunk is a tao of crowds not of tech. it’s the movement of memory and perception vacillating between ‘clandestine’ and ‘zeitgeist’. it’s a method of understanding surrounding systems. a state of observation. A perch from whence to look around and arrange ideas where the eidetic is king and solipsism is battle armor. cyberpunk is cybernetics as the study of human systems, not electronic and mechanical body parts. it is living in the space between. riding between cultures and divining authenticity from them. an anthropology of the space between the nodes of all systems and recognition that each is connected. it’s real, doesn’t need to be defined by an aesthetic or an era and isn’t beholden to cargo cult neon noir dystopic futurism. a cowboy’s work is never done. i like posting so late on tumblr in the EST that this post will barely get reblogged. i can feel it.
